Workshops led by artists, educators, and other professionals are often held in collaboration with departments and centers on campus, to allow hands-on experience in art-making or analyzing processes for visitors of all ages. Collaborations have included the Queens College Departments of Art, Education, and Colden Center for the Performing Arts. An on-going relationship with the Lincoln Center Institute for Art in Education offers workshops for teachers on all levels that include curriculum and activity materials. Writing, Art & Inspiration

This writing workshop, led by Professor Nicole Cooley of the Queens College MFA Program, will spin off the two current exhibits in the Godwin-Ternbach Museum, “Getting There” and “The Tiny Pricks Project.” We will look at art as a jumping off point for our writing, and we will write together, using interactive and quick writing prompts and questions. Come prepared to experiment, be inspired and have fun.
No prior writing experience required! Just bring yourself and something to write with!

Join us for this virtual program and re-imagine Migrations! Participants of all ages are welcome to join our virtual Family Day on November 14th from 10:30am – 12:00pm. We will be doing close observations of art works from the exhibition Migrations: A Study of Arts and Identity.
During the program, participants will hear and share stories of migrations and journeys. Each of us has a powerful story to tell and we can share and feel empowered to create something visually or ephemeral. We will also take time to move our bodies inspired by the dance performances of Migrations.
Program is recommended for children ages 6–11; however, children of all ages and abilities are welcome to attend!

We will be observing works of art from our current exhibition Human|Nature: Portraits from the Permanent Collection and creating our own self-portraits.
